Lifeguard
The Lifeguard is responsible for the safety and well being of the members entering the pool while swimming and on the deck by enforcing the established pool rules and responding to emergencies when they arise. Lifeguard hours are flexible; must participate in monthly in-services, maintain safe and sanitary pool conditions, and general maintenance of the the pool, deck, and locker rooms. Lifeguards must be 15 years or older and have current Red Cross Lifeguard Certification with FirstAid/CPR/AED. The lifeguard is an hourly position comparable to major pool companies in the area with a higher rate for lifeguards with a pool operator’s license. Commonwealth Swim Club is a private outdoor seasonal swimming pool with close ties to the surrounding neighborhoods.
Pool Supervisor
The primary responsibility of the Pool Supervisor is to supervise the lifeguard staff and act as a liaison between the lifeguard staff and the pool board of directors. The supervisor should expect to spend 10 hours a week at the pool in addition to being on call during pool hours to answer questions from the lifeguards and attending pool board of directors meetings. Duties to include: lifeguard training in chores and routines, organizing lifeguard in-services, keeping careful inventory of supplies and pool chemicals, and scheduling/timekeeping. The Pool Supervisor must have prior lifeguard experience and should have their pool operator’s license by opening weekend. The Pool Supervisor is a salaried position with a membership bonus. Pool Attendant
The primary responsibility of the Pool Attendant is to assist the lifeguards in the daily administrative and cleaning tasks. This person will check in members at the front desk, collect guest fees/passes, answer the phone, sell concessions, and complete chores. Applicants may be as young as 14 with a work permit. This person should have a friendly manner and a responsible work ethic. No prior work experience is necessary. The Pool Attendant is an hourly position.
