Cuda Dive

Even if you don't know a pike from a tuck, our dive coaches will show you the ropes in a safe environment and get you ready to dive in an NVSL meet. Experienced and novice divers are welcome! Cuda Dive is coached by Coach Emily Brooks and the Team Reps are Kristen Webster and Julie Benson. This season our team will be competing in Division 8.

Our dive team includes divers of all ability levels - from beginner divers to advanced. We welcome anyone who loves diving (or wants to learn) to join our team!  As a summer recreational program, our focus is having fun, learning new skills and being part of a team.

NVSL Dive programs focus on skills related to springboard diving on 1-meter boards. Teams compete in divisions with five other teams, and participate in five Tuesday night meets each summer. Teams send their best divers to a Divisional meet at the end of the season. Divers from each division are selected to compete in the NVSL All-Star Meet. Additionally, the Cracker Jack meet is a competition available for new divers.

The NVSL competition is divided into four age groups (based on diver’s age as of June 1st) with required dives:

  • Freshmen: age 10 and under; front dive, back dive, 1 optional dive

  • Junior: age 11-12; front dive, back dive, 2 optional dives

  • Intermediate: age 13-14; front dive, back dive 3 optional dives

  • Senior: age 15-18; front dive, back dive, inward dive, 3 optional dives

Dive Meets are run by volunteers. CSC must provide 2-3 Judges to rate each dive, and 2-3 Table Workers to record scores after each dive and then add up the diver’s score. There are NVSL clinics scheduled to teach you everything you need to know about judging or working the tables. We cannot participate in a dive meet without volunteers. Training is free and no pre-registration is necessary. Even if you aren’t ready to judge, the judges clinic is really informative if you want to understand the sport of diving. Additionally, when we have a home meet we always need assistance setting up and breaking down.
